ROBOTS ARE NOT A THREAT TO JOBS

Robots will rise, and they will rise exponentially in the future and will change the global economy in the next 10-15 years. But do you think we should really be worried about losing our jobs to robots?

It's true that robots are capable of working for hours precisely without the need to pay them. They can work 24x7. With these capabilities, it's common for us to ask why they won't steal our jobs. Not to forget they don't have limits to how much load they can carry around. Below I would like to discuss why robots may not be a threat to our jobs.

Take the instance of car industries. These industries employing thousands of robots have boosted up their productions. But do you really think that people lost their jobs to robots in these industries? I would say it's still not visible if people lost their jobs to robots. Look the current robot technology is not smart enough to operate themselves, they still need human intervention. Instead with increasing number of robots people also get employed to operate them. Thus creating more employment opportunities for people.

The ATM may explain this perfectly. James Bessen of Boston University points out that ATM did not replace bank tellers at all. Now there are more bank teller jobs in the US than there are ATMs. So if we look carefully robots have helped human boost their productivity. Robots can perform mundane tasks consistently with perfection, helping human perform their non-routine tasks.

The feeling of threat is not real now. People can retain their jobs by improving their skills. They can educate themselves in the field of robotics. The educational system of a country will largely decide if people lose their jobs to robots or not. We have not reached that era where robots become self-conscious and build superior versions of themselves, something known as "TECHNOLOGICAL EXPLOSION" where robot intelligence exceeds human intelligence.

We have the opportunity to work with robots to boost our productivity. Human to robot collaboration will make industries more intelligent and greatly improve the overall human performance.
